Ondo state in Nigeria announces plans to implement medical cannabis programme

The Nigerian state of Ondo is set to become the first state to approve medical cannabis. State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has announced plans to start cultivating medical cannabis in controlled plantations. He has called on the federal government to support the move, claiming that it will raise money and create jobs. Akeredolu further claims that the international medical cannabis industry will be worth $145bn by 2025 and that Nigeria is well placed to capitalise on this market.
