Chilean president temporarily pauses military border control

The Chilean president has temporarily retired a decree that ordered military support to assist police enforcing the country’s northern border shared with Bolivia and Peru. This area of the Chilean border is estimated to be the source for 63% of the drugs sold in Chile. The pause is in response to a wave of public criticism over the use of the military to enforce borders.
