Armenian government bans smoking in public spaces

A law banning smoking in public places has been approved by the Armenian government. Further measures, including bans on smoking in children’s playgrounds, educational premises and on public transport as well as restrictions on tobacco sales and advertising are also envisaged for the final legislation. The government hopes that the legislation will prevent 7,000 deaths over 15 years and will improve population health.
